Shikahogh State Reserve

This is Armenia’s second-largest reserve and it is so unspoiled that some major parts of it are still unexplored to this day. The forest is said to be home to different animals, which include bears, vipers, wild goats, and leopards. It is also believed that there are almost 1,100 species of plants in the Shikahogh State Reserve, but the fauna hasn’t been explored fully. In 2005, a planned highway threatened the reserve, but the forest’s future was protected through successful lobbying by environmentalists. Lake Sevan

Found in the heart of Armenia, Lake Sevan is the largest lake in the country and is certainly a beautiful place to visit. There are some stunning monasteries that surround the lake, the most impressive is undoubtedly the Sevanavank Monastery that serves as a glorious scenic backdrop. One of the top recreational activities at the lake is none other than windsurfing and you can also find a great choice of seafood restaurants situated along the shore. There are a number of popular beaches and the lack of coastline means it is the best place to sunbathe in Armenia.
